MCHA Responsibilities
- Actively assist households succeed on the Public Housing Program.
- Comply with all Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity requirements.
- With the utmost integrity, maintain the process for applications, the waiting list, and selection for the program.
- In accordance with HUD regulations, request and verify information about the household when they enter the program and while they are in the program.
- Inspect the unit before a household moves in, schedule annual inspections, and schedule an inspection when there is reason to believe that the unit may not be up to standards or damaged by the resident or others.
- Provide units that meet or exceed the federal threshold Determine the amount of rent the family must pay the landlord.
- Enforce the standard lease fairly across the Public Housing Program and offer a grievance hearing to impacted households if need be.
- Offer an Earned Income Disallowance incentive to households that qualify.
